Default so a lil race after carshow.

i was just comming home with the g/f. and in front of me was a red 70? 442. very nice car. and these kids in a 00-02 grand am get right on my@$$, it looks like he had a billet grill. i was like wtf? so its about 3 miles of 1 lane road, and then it come up to a 2 lane split with a turning lane into walmart. so i get next to the guy in the 442 and ask him what it has. he says 400, ever since i started talking to him the kids are in the turning lane reving up the grand am (stock muffler) i was like what ever so i finally look over at the kid and he says "that thing F*cking sucks" and turns lol. anywho the light turns green and me and the 442 floor it. he sreched into second so i know he was tring. anywho i was about 2 leanths after 70 mph... finally a real kill for the LT1.

he killed the 442. nice kill. im calling bs on the 400hp tho if you walked him like that. 2 lengths by 70 is pretty bad.

he might have meant a 400 sbc. i guess i just took it to mean hp. an old 400 would be good game for a mostly stock lt1. still a good run

nice, my dad had a 70' 442 w30stick convert when he was 17. got rid of it after a couple years cause he said it got like 7 miles to the gallon or something and couldn't afford to fill it up twice a day going to school and back. those cars are worth a pretty penny today.

btw, he said his dynoed at 400+whp stock

that would be pretty hard to do with the 370hp olds 455 that came in that year. no offense but im guessing ur dad is doing like most guys of that time do and just quoting hearsay style numbers. he probably never had it dynod. these motors were usually tested with no accessories and dyno headers back in those days so the power numbers were pretty inflated.

Motor Trend tested a 442 W-30 with a 4-speed manual transmission and 3.91:1 rear gears, clocking a quarter mile time of 14.2 seconds @ 102mph (164km/h). However, Motor Trend noted that Oldsmobile engineers had earlier posted a best of 13.7 seconds on the same test car with a fresh tune.
that car is big, but not as fat as some out today, and a 102 trap speed aint no 400+rwhp.
