So a good friend of mine has a 2001 Volvo S40 that has been heavily modified. They're all turbo 4 bangers I think, but he swapped the stock turbo fora bigger one, has a big fart can exhaust, and all kinds of other small mods. It's actually a nice looking car that's pretty quick, but he's constantly having reliability issues because of all the mods he's done himeself (he's not exactly a mechanic). He goes to all of the "Euro" car shows and he makes fun of domestic cars. When I got my z28 he asked me if I was getting a mullet wig too. I just laughed and said let's race punk. He won't race my Cobalt SS because he's afraid of losing but to my surprise he accepted this race. I wanted to go from a dig but he insisted that we start at 40mph. Hekinda did a ricer flyby because he was passing me while he blew his horn to signal the start of the race. I just said whatever and floored it. He had at least a car length lead but I instantly got up to speed and reeled him in slowly. By 110 mph I had a one car length lead on him and he shut down. Now he's doing more mods and says he wants a rematch when he's done. I said that's fine but no more flybys.

and the S40 is a inline-5. they make pretty good power and sound absolutely amazing (with the right exhaust, of course)

my brother is same way.. he thinks saabs are the ****, he wants one for first car, and he thinks it could stomp all over any chevy i get..
he even thinks a 9 3 turbo will be all over a LS1 or LT1.

 

My GF's ex drives a volvo S70, an old *** one. when they both lived in the dorms he would see her every once in awhile getting into my TA, and would ask her "you actually get into that THING?"

then said he wanted to race me, cuz hiz car was amazing cuz it had a turbo. yep, factory turbo, about the size of my left nut, boosting that engine to a whopping 160hp. I told him whenever he wanted, but he never got back to me american muscle FTSJSOAPSMFW!

 

lol.. dude, that's either a really big nut, or a miniscule turbo... im going with the miniscule turbo

 

i asked my dad about slaabs once and he said they give them turbos so they can keep up with themselves.[sm=happybounce.gif]

 

and they still cant keep up woth themselves.
