ha.. i knew one of the mustang guys would post and say.. " he should have smoked you, he cant drive." in all reality the mustang and my camaro are a pretty good match for each other. he has 300hp 320ft lbs,3.55:1 gear ratio 5spd transmission.
My car has, (stock#'s)275hp 325 ft lbs,( i have only done minor things to the enginelike an air foil, home made cai, and gutted cat, msd ignition)3.73:1 rear gears and an auto tranny (stage two transgo, corvette servo and all the other usual upgrades)
we both gteched our cars(this is on the street, tire spinning off the line)
My best was a 14.3@103
and his best was a 14.1@97, both cars should do a lot better than this on the track.
actually i jumped off the line and had about a length on him (thanks to the auto and 3.73's)until he hit second gear and he pulled all the way even with me, i was scared lol, i thought he was gonna smoke me, but he couldnt pull anymore, he hit third and fell back a little, the nose of his car was at my front fender and that is where he stayed.
the only major thing the mustangs have on the lt1camaros stock for stockis gearing, most of the camaros are geared out of their power band and makes them doggish, not good for drag racing,if my car was totallystock with 3.23's and a stock transmission im pretty sure he would have outran me easily but my car is not stock and it doesnt take thatmuch to match a regular 05-07mustang gt.

I just want to point out that I have personally witnessed a 2005+ Mustang GT run a 13.4 in the 1/4 and yes it was BONE STOCK. I love Camaros and all but there is no way your LT1 will do that in it's current state.

I argee, the sn197 GTs should do a mid-high 13. However I can believe that you beat him becuase he didnt drive his car to its true potential.

Hiss was right, dont say he would say that the stang had a bad driver just becuase he owns a mustang. I doubt he cares, he has no reason to defend a new GT. He has a cobra that would waist both cars. And he was speaking the truth.

Yes itis possible he wasnt driving to the full potential of his car but what makes you think i am a professional driver...maybe Icould have done better with the camaro. I guess we wont really know untill i take it back through the 1/4 and see what numbers i get.
Idrove his car the other dayand it didnt seem like anything extrodinary(i didnt gag on it too hard)but was pretty fun to drive with the 5 spd and all.the exhaust had a nice tone.It did seem a little less sporty than the camaro though.

(x infinity)
For some reason people have a problem with the driver error comment. Same thing with a buddy of mine who claims to waste c5 vettes with 4 people in his car with his lt4 that made 290 rwhp. nobody ever said you are a professional driver. they just said you drove better than ur brother in-law. That is a compliment. owning a fast car is not necessarily something to be proud of. the ability to drive it is.

I can also tell you guys that the guy i bought the car from told me that it ran a 13.7 at dinwiddy va raceway.thatwas before the tranny and rearend. he said that he had a headjob(valves worked/redone) and new headgaskets. he didnt tell me about doing anything special to the engine.
He has a malibu drag car he races there on a regular basis.

here you said ur car was basicly stock, cept a couple "home made mods" and gearing, but the guy you bought off had alot done to it.. and ran better numbers(almost whole second) than you did AFTER gears and tranny....

Isaid he didnt do anything to the motor other than freshining the heads up. That is all he told me. He probably would get better numbers out of it because he drag races for a hobby.I have never drag raced before. The13.7he ranwas on the track and he probably had slicks on it because he offered to sell me a set for the car. Im hoping next time i go i will be under a 13.7, if im getting 103mph in the 1/4 on the street it should be good for a mid 13 on the track i hope.I believe the car is capable of it on street tires with what little bit i have done to it. If i go soon I will post what times i get.
