Last month, I was cruizing with my buddy. Then, I had the stock highway gears, with an open 10 bolt, 8.5.Anyway, I got on it on a long stretch of highway. At about 120, I looked in my rear view and there was this new Z06, not getting any smaller. Of cource, he has an overwhelming top end, and he passed me. We came to a T in the road, and he followed me on my turn. Rolling at about 30, he took off, with 2 cars on me. A good second later, I got on it, already way behind. I closed in to less then a car between us, but he pulled away. My 383 pushes 450+ hp and 400+ Tq,but the Z06 has atleast 500, it was no contest with my gears. Now, I have a locker and 4.56 gears. I wonder what would happen now lol. That was the most entertaining race I've ever had

 

Gotta love a couple well built cars going at it. Sounds like a fun time!

 

Dont feel bad, I have a blown vette, and I LOST to a new Z06, that 505 HP rating is bull****! I also work for a GM plant, and have driven tons of those cars, and it takes some machine to touch one...

 

I ran a stock one in my vette a couple of years ago -- when they first came out . I won fairly big, by eight or ten lengths or something, which is not surprising given 200+ RWHP difference (704 RWHP) ,but Iremember thinking at the time that ZO6 ran like it had closer to 550 HP and I've never seen anything to change my mind on that.

 

Yeah, we under rate them for insurance reasons...not that I understand that, cause if you can afford that car, then you can afford the insurance and any tickets that come along with owning that car... Im going to buy an 05 or 06 Z06 this summer if I sell mine...

 

ive seen adudes dyno on a stock 06 z06, it wasin the high 400s like 480 - 490 around there. but give or take a 5- 10% error margin...

 

That was such a fun day lol. At the light before I turned onto the highway, I spun the tires, unknowing there was a cop about 10 feet away. It was three lanes at the light, and all were full, so he really couldn't get me. It was a scary O Sh** moment seeing him as I left haha. Then, like 2 mins later, that vette thing happened on the next road.
