my v6 2.8 88 camaro vs 02 chevy s10 extreme
The bet is at cecil we will race later on and loser has to wear a dress for 1 game of bowling. We raced today from like 40-95 since his truck governs at 95 and that is how the race is going to be 0-95. I lost by a little bit and after his hit 95 I flew by him. Is there anything I can do to my little 6cyl camaro to beat him? I don't have the money to drop a 350 in it. What can I do and how much will it cost?

my gf dad said he ahd a v6 camaro and he had gears and a shift kit put in it and it would kick up pretty quick..but other than that it would be the usual intake exhaust all that stuff

I dont think the 2.8L had a big aftermarket, but i know nothing about them. You could drop in a 3800 V6. You should be able to get one at a very good price becuase it was put into so many GM cars. If you find one from a junk yard you could probly get it for a few hundred bucks and it would give you alot more power than the 2.8 would. It would be the best way to go as far as money is concerd, seeing as how you would have to put a few hundred dollors into the 2.8 to even catch up with the 3800.
Plus the 3800 have huge aftermarkets so it would be easy to mod too.

if its just v6 for a v6 it would be a very quick and easy swap...idk about computers and stuff but the motor itself should just bolt right it (gotta love chevy lol)

You will have to swap out the ecu and harness as well. If you can talk to some fiero guys they deal alot with the 2.8 and 3.1. They also like to swap out to the 3.4 and the 3.8. You can find cheap headers and exhaust's for the car this might help a little. Also a K&N filter might be a cheap mod. Good plugs and wires can help. There are guys out there thatdo build the things. Like i said talk to the fiero guys they might be able to help.

About the only thing you can do quickly that would make a difference would be to change the rear end ratio: not sure what it is in your car but if you only lost to him by a bit, a change to a numerically higher rear axle ratio change would be enough -- and it can be done quickly (if you can find the right axle).
You might see if headers are available for it but I doubt. If they are, those, the axle, and a good tune up, etc., and maybe a K&N filter of whatever (or in desperation just pull the filter out and run dirty -- without one -- for a race (if it's a clean track --I know but I've done it a couple of times). That would make a difference.

I cut all my exhaust off and put a glass pack that I got for free, later on I gotta put a cat on it to lol. I also got new plug wires, it is very loud and made a huge difference. I just have to put new spark plugs in now.
