Default my '87 5.7L IROC VS '09 6.2L Sierra?

Hello everyone! I own a 1987 iroc-z and its almost time to take her out of storage! Theres a kid at my school that drives his dads 2009 GMC Sierra and claims it has the 6.2 vortec. He threw out the offer to race and I accepted thinking it shouldn't be too much of a problem. But, after taking a look at the HP rating on the truck I'm a little skeptical. Heres the stats of my car and his truck that I know of.

87 camaro

350 TPI with cermaic headers
Auto 700r4 trans w/shift kit
9 Bolt 3.27
full 3" Flowmaster 40's exhaust
at the most maybe 240-250HP?

09 sierra

6.2L Vortec 403HP est.
all stock
easily +4500lbs

Do I have the better power/weight ratio? Ive driven a 2006 Ram with 5.7L hemi, and that thing is pretty dam quick! what do you think?

true but those those trucks weigh around 5500lbs. I'm hoping I can pull him off the line and take advantage of the TPI torque. I know I have more driving experience so we'll see! I'll post the results if anyones interested. any more guesses?

I think it'll at least be a good race. Might win, might not, but should be pretty close either way if you know how to launch. Give it a shot and let us know what happens. If you lose, well, the car is 23 years old.

granted the 100+ more hp but all that weight is gonna be alot to haul *** with. from the whole you might stand a chance lighter = out the hole faster. but from a roll your gone, i remember watching a lt1 trans am race a ram 4x4 super duty or something, the lt1 pulled about a car length.

but its still a truck though.. nothing special.
