Default me vs mustang gt

well we were out and about last nite.. i was to follow my buddy who has a 98 (i think) gt.. 4.6 l with no mods... when we turn the corner he floors it and i have to follow wo i floor it too.. i kept up with him an he started pullin farther away once we got to about 65 mph. at the light i get next to him.. and he said ok lets race till the next light...light turns green we go.. i got a good launch and got out ahead. he was at my rear tire and stayed there till midway on 3rd gear.. then he started catchin up then got to the next light and i was at his door [&:]..

all in think i did pretty good.. even if i lost.. good race

98 is not the best year for the 4.6 2 valve good kill.

Hey v6 almost got a v8 stang, not bad at all. The owners do tend to think they are the fastest **** on the road if they get a k&n and some flowmasters from autozone lol.

lol, I have a 96 4.6 with a K&N and Flowmasters that will beat most Ls1s.


the 96-98 were pretty much the slowest out of all the v8 mustangs, but thats still cool that your v6 could hang with him.

I would have to see that, a bone stock LS1 should walk a 96-98. If its the DOHC 4v then it may at least hang, but not really...Stock 2v is 215 crank hp, LS1 is 350ish crank stock. So stock 160-170rwhp vs 290-300rwhp conservativly on the LS1. Flowmasters do very little if anything, intake maybe 10hp. Even if we are talking 96-98 Cobra thats 260rwhp vs 300rwhp. So unless the LS1 is asleep at the wheel I would have to call bs.

lol I didnt say *all* it has is a K&N and flowmasters..

The 32v is a long way off from the 16v. But if i am not mistaken the early 4.6 v2 made around 230-240 crank the 4v was around 280.

Latter on the 4 valve got a kick up to its 315 in the mach one and then again in 03 with the SC cobra. The 2v also got a kick in the late 90s up to 260ish.

5.0s dyno around 180-190 ish. early 4.6 2valve will dyno in the low 200 range. Latter on with the kick from ford. Your looking at around 215-225 give or take.
