i not sure the year of the mustang. i know it was probly a 1994 to 1996 mustang gt convertible. anyway i was cruising on I-75 south doing about 75 mph. with little traffic. then this mustang comes up behind me tailing me. so im like wtf i cant go ant faster because its a car in front of me. so then this guy in the mustang cut to the left lane an with his top down an pass me. so i thinking it was a v6 mustang not worht my time but after he got like three cars on me i look at the bumper of the mustang it said gt. following that the driver in the mustang put a peace sign in the air an started wavy at me. so im like hell no. so i go after him started reeling inim about a one car lenght behind him then all of a sudden my car starts stalling like it want cut off. i looking at my gages an notice i was at my top speed 115mph so i had to back an this guy took off an left me. i was pissed off. why in hell did gm put 115mph on these z28. anyway i that was my first loss in my 1993 z28 camaro. i was thinking about having this governor remove but whats the point i want be going that fast often. i know i could have took that mustang.

 

The tires they put on them weren't rated for over that.

 

for 115? most tires are rated for that.

and yeah, it was def 94-98 if it said GT on the bumper. 99+ said it on the trunk lid. maybe not the s197..... not sure, but at least until 04

idk if mustangs of that year had governors. i had a 95 gt convertible back in the day that i would take up to 130 before i started to get nervous of seeing a cop

 

well i all for safety. i dont normally drive that fast. by the time realize how fast i was going my car was stalling out. but it was embrassing to see that mustang walk away from like it was nothing. i can say this when i he slow down an i caught up with him he didnt want to roll with me again from a lower speed. i guess he prove his point.

 

i didnt realize stock ratings were that low [&:]i thought they were around 135 or something....

 

I know someone who has a 97 Z28 and it has a governor at 110! He says it sucks and I believe it I looked it up and the tires that came on those cars off the factory floor was rated to 135 I guess GM wanted noone to get near that. But if you ordered the "premium" wheel and tire option it came with Z rated tires and no governor.

 

To my knowledge, Mustangs never came with Governers.

 

Ha! It seems like everytime I'm driving the Camaro I never see anybody worth racing. I always come up on old ladies in their buicks and cars without so much as an iota of performance. When I'm in my Toyo pick up these cars are all over the place!! Haha!
