I dont know where this goes!!! but a wrx vs. z28 vs. 05+ stang gt!
Hi guys, my name is Denis and i am 17. My current car is a Mitsu mirage DE 1998, its a POS! I have been searching for a new car ever since i got my licence and now i think i have a chance! I have been doing a lot of research on basically ricers and well yea.. I passed through that stage :P I have narrowed my choice down to a Z28, a 05+stang GT, a 240sx with a SR20DET swap and possibly a turbo, or the prime choice a WRX(not STi). i basically know everything between a 240 and a wrx. But the price between them is also not to small, but then again i actually get a warranty with subaru! I wanted to ask you guys to please compare the Z28 and a 05+stang GT! Like what would "win" in a race from a dig/roll. Well i could find out the basic stats of them two on the internet. But please guys help me out with my choice! And please try to include the WRX in the comparison. Well thanks in advanced.

My personal opinion, which is just an educated guess, would say thatI WOULD TAKE ANY OF THEM... DAMN BOY!!! LS1 is a very fast motor, that what i would say, go the camaro! IT's got alot of top end strength and acts AMAZING to mods. Although the wrx... awd? would kill it from a dig, but the ls1 would run it down.

i dunnno about that the wrx non sti only has like 240 hp unlike the 300 of the sti i think even with awd an ls1 will get a wrx on launch unless its modded of course

All good cars. The SR20 might give you some problems but if you build itwith a FMIC, swapout the turbo, injecters, dyno tune, and turbo back exhaust itcould be a killer. The WRX is nice too.I ran around in my freinds 05 GT for about 2 weeks and loved it fun car too drive. However i will say that the LS1 is the fastes by a good bit. If the SR20 is modded it could be a good race and the same thing if the wrx was a STI you would have two lowto mid13 sec cars. Stock wrx i think is mid 14s.The GT is slower than the ls1 but is still a good car. My friend runs 13.6s with intake, exhaust, headers, and tuner. I run 13.2s with cat back and slp intake so he still hates me.. All and All they are good cars i would take the Z but thats just me. My second pick would be the WRX. Then the SR20. Sorry mustang its not you its 90% of your drivers.

Here ill tell you a problem with the WRX's a buddie of mine had the STI and had alot of stuff done to it it had about 450awhp and he went throw 3 trannys and another guy that came in to the lube shop i used to work at had the same problems with his ive also raced one with intake and cat-back mine's SLP intake, the exhust dumps at the 6speed with no mufflers, SLP Mass, and MSD coils and the rear suspension is all race w/rod ends and i smoked the STI,05-upMustangs no problem beating those but it all deppends on what you want ive havent had a problem with my Camaro the cars ive lost to was a '07 GT500 not by much, '07 Z06 i didnt stand a chance, and i think it was a '05 Viper witch kinda kick my A$$ but other than that great cars id go with the Camaro

Hi guys, Thanks a lot for all your help! I kind of like the 3rd Gen body/lights more then the 4th. So what kind of price should i expect to pay for a say 1997 Camaro Z28? And are there any problems i can locate by just the eye or driving it? like on the eclipse if u hold the clutch make a left turn, if the clutch sticks then your going to need a rebuild pretty soon(i just heard this somewhere dont know if its true[8D]).

93-02 are all fourth gens. 93-97 had different fronts like you said and the had the LT1. 98-02's have the LS1. Definetly if you have the money you want the LS1.

97 and earlier Z28 had the LT1 engine -- very fine car, but I would not take it over the WRX and its refinement and warranty. A '98 or newer Z28 with the LS1, though, is going to be faster than any of the others.
By the way, bone stock my Z28 did 13.4s, and stock except for CAI and cat back, and with slicks, itdid a best of 12.88 on a cool perfect night.

A bone stock LS1 will run 13.6-14.0 depending on the driver and track altitude and all the stuff. A bone stock LT1 might run a 14.8 if you're lucky. Go with the LS1, and if you can get an 01-02 bc they have the LS6 intake manifold. Its not hard to get an LS1 into the 12's.
