I really hateto argue about stuff like this but.....the Vette driver could not drive and I doubt the Cobra guys could either. I have plenty of seat time in a LS2 GTO (and I am a decent driver). Let me tell you, they are not easy to get down the track. They launch OK but when it shifts into 2nd it either hooks or blows the tires off. The average times I have witnessed at the track for a stock LS2 GTO is usually low 13's with high 13's for the LS1 cars. As for the new (05+) mustangs, I see them in the mid 13's pretty regular, so for those of yo9u who are saying no way a GT can beat a GTO, I beg to differ. Being loyal to a brand is one thing, but being a blind fanboy is another, these new 3V GT's are pretty stout cars, accept it guys.

 

LS2 is overrated. Just kidding.

As far as mustangs are concerned, isn't there about a 40 hp difference between the v6 and 8?

 

GTO has 400 hp, for those of you who keep referring to it as 300. (except for the 04, they had 350)

A '93 camaro will get destroyed by a GTO, drivers race for 04.

2004 Pontiac GTO LS1 0-60= 5.3 1/4=13.8
2005 Pontiac GTO LS2 0-60= 4.8 1/4=13.0
2005 Ford Mustang GT4.6L V8 0-60= 5.1 1/4= 13.5
2004 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 0-60= 4.5 1/4= 12.9
1993 Chevy Camaro Z28 0-60= 5.8 1/4= 14.4
1998 Chevy CamaroZ28 0-60= 5.2 1/4= 13.7

If you have a98+ Camaro Z28 or SS you could beat a LS1 GTO, Hang with a 2005 mustang GT but with your 93 with those mods you could be running mybe close to a 14 second 1/4 so as far as hanging with a LS1 GTO you could probably with reallygood shifts but as far as a 2005 or newer Mustang GT or a 2003 or newer Cobra you would probably get beat fairly easy.

those times not ligit ? lol i know your not suppost to beleive anything you see/learn/hear on the internet but are they really that far off ? Cause theres a video on youtube of a 2002 i beleive camaro SS stock on DR running a 12.69

 

the 4.6 cobra i beleave is a little higher, and the 98 camaro is way to high. should be like 12.9-13.2... other than that, they seem decent.

 

the cobra is mid 12s easy, 12.5s.
ls1 fbodies are low 13s, 13.2-3 usually stock
gto's are a little higher than that if driven properly, mid 13s but usually high 13s because they are difficult to launch
the ls2 gto's can hit 12s, but i think it rarely happens because of the cars weight and difficulty with launching

 

They're slow times recorded by magazine editors, but they're fair and comparable. For comparison purposes, they're as legit as you can get.
