i have a 93 z28 camaro with cai, shift kit and hooker aero chamber exhaust. anyway i wandering how bad would an lt1 hold up against an gto. i have been checking out the mustang forum an they have been saying that they smoke gto really bad an talking down on these cars. now i have ran neck to need with an 07 mustang gt. how is it that an LT1 is a drivers race with an late mustang gt. but an gto an what 350hp to 400hp car get smoked by an 300hp mustang gt.

 

the GTO will smoke you if it;s LS2. it'd have you by 1.5 seconds or so in the 1/4. and no way are stock mustang owners beating them. sorry.

no way stock gts can keep up with gto.

 

GTO will rape anything but another LS basically. the LS2 is stock a 12.9 i think, the LS1 is a stock 13.4.. i think those are the correct numbers.

 

The slowest gto was the 04' ran 13.8 in the 1/4, cobras would beat them.
But not know 300hp gt, unless he has a gutted cat

 

they say that b/c LS2 Goats have traction issues from a dig and some claim to have beat it because of that (maybe because it wasnt a long enough race)and you cant put tires big enough to suit its power without banging in the fender wall. from a roll it will kill all of us stock for stock (LS1's s197's and LT1's)

average for a stock s197 GT is 13.6 ish.
the record is 13.2. a stock GT would take pretty quick care of a stock ls1 GTO. the GTO is heavy and has horrible suspension out of the box. the ls2 is faster, and there are alot of threads on MF about mustangs taking them down. i dont know about how reliable they are, but i believe it if its an ls based GTO.

 

The reason the GTO is ragged on is because its heavy and runs slow in the quater mile....The IRS kills the car at draging.

My next car will be a 05-06 GTO tho. I likem alot very well balanced car.

 

LOL, the mustang guys have a thing for bashing just about any gm, there are few models of mustangs that can beat the gto's, if its a normal mustang GT 06-08vs. an LS1 gto its a close race, but the gto usually comes out on top, if its vs. the LS2 GTO the mustanggets eaten.

as for your car vs a GTO (LS1) its a close race assuming your car runs well, if its from a dig you will be in front by about a fender, and then after 60-70mph the gto will pull on you and probably stay ahead by a fender or 2.

and i dont care what people say about the ls2 gto's, if you know how to drive(really), they are a fast car, my buddy has an 06, and it destroys S/C cobras (stock) and has smoked my buddy's 02 Z06 (LS6) corvette.
