i was out in the 3.8 last night and raced a stock 240sx and an 06 4.0 mustang, both of which i thought i would definitely lose to seeing as how my car is stock except for flowmasters. the 240sx was first. i thought if i could beat him off the line i would have it, i mean, they're supposed to be all top end, right? wrong. we ran exactly side by side, shifting at the exact same time until the end of my 3rd gear. i actually pulled him when i shifted to 4th, and beat him. he had excuses for this and that like the usual ricer (even though he's one of my friends), so i had to race him 2 more times . the passenger recorded all 3 races, as soon as i find the video on youtube i'll post a link.

as for the mustang, it was a 5 speed, had CAI, magnaflow, and some sort of chip (according to the driver). i raced an 05 v6 and beat it before, but barely, and it was stock. needless to say, my 3.8 had its work cut out for it with this one. i barely stayed even with him on the launch, actually, i barely stayed even until about 85, then he started pulling me. so, i lost, but it was probably the funnest race i've been in yet. no video of this race, i wish though.

 

if he only started to pull on you after 85 mph then that was likey well over a quarter mile so good job

 

Nice races, it's pretty awesome that you stuck with the 4.0 with those mods for that long.

 

yeah, and i hit all of my shifts perfectly, so i know that was my car's best. wish i could've been at a track when i ran him, would've loved to have seen what i run the quarter in with 219xxx miles . ....also, i have a gutted cat, that mustang and 240sx must've had theirs removed as well to have ran with me. i mean, i can outrun vipers and...stuff. >.>


lol, i'm getting a used K&N CAI out of a wrecked 2000 firebird for 50 bucks from a junkyard (i'm actually buying the engine for 500 dollars this fall, 100xxx miles). the CAI's in good shape as far as i know, and i'm gonna put it on in about a month. i'll run that mustang again after that and see if it makes a difference. expect a video .
