A newer 3.8 would have given you a run however the older one is a very easy kill for the 5.0 TBI you have him by about 30 or so horses and a large amount of low end torque.

the older ones were single port 3.8. new are split port 3.8.

The front and rear give it away. I think the last year of the single was 98. In 99 they went to the newer body that is a little more curvy.

Yup...
'99 is when Ford upgraded the v6 to the split port...
Good for a whole 190 hp and 212 ft/lbs!
