I seen a video of a lt1 camaro and it needle hit the peg with about 500 rpms to go and the he kept going and the tach. needle apast the end of the red line. It was a video on the web some where.

i, and a couple others ive heard say it, call the ls1 style a cat fish style.. it does kinda look like a cat fish lol.

Yenko, you're answer to the Vette question is simple...weight difference and aerodynamics. Plus, I think you're thinking of the Z06 when you say 185, to my knowledge the LS1 Vette couldn't make it quite that far.

EDIT: I just wanted everyone to know that I just hit the top posters board on the right hand side of your screen...

It will go over 100. I was saying that your car should accelerate faster after we reach a hundred then mine with the gears I have in mine
not true, but this is a common misconception

the thing is, with gears you lose top speed. people translate this into losing top end. but think about whats happening, the higher gear ratio allows the motor to spin more times per wheel turn giving the motor a mechanical advantage on the wheels. if it does it in 1st gear, why would 5th be any different? the final drive ratio between the tranny and the diff is still taller than it was stock, so you pull harder.

the only thing is, ur theoretical top speed (the speed at which ur engine is at redline in 5th or 6th gear) is reduced, but most cars cant overcome drag to get there anyways
