RE: camaro vs honda
the cars have a completely different top end.they have different internals. this is not "exactly the same". they share........ the block. thats it. the block. maybe an accessory or 2. but pretty much: its da block.
the swap itself is considered by most of the v6 members of this board, as well as members of the wbody boards i frequent, to be a complete PITA for reasons you even mentioned and ill get to that in a minute. for camaro specifically the whole top end needs to be replaced, from the articles ive read its a recommendation to even replace to the donor heads. most people figure its easier to just ebay a centri kit than to try to convert over to GTP roots blower. to add to it, the car has higher compression which means you cannot boost as high. i dont know whats wrongs with ur buddies but they swapped to a motor which will grenade at anything over 10PSI and therefore locked themselves into the 14s for the duration of their auto's lives. where the GTP can handle much more boost than this stock.
for all of these reasons, when i said your statement "my GTP has 304hp, so camaros are easy to mod" is completely 100% (110% if ur an athlete) incorrect and invalid. comparing modability of a factory boosted car to a one factory NA sharing a minority of its components is ridiculous. comparing the two makes the assumption that they mod similarly and this is not the case. even if you did swap the SC onto this "completely identical" engine, you wouldnt have the potential of the GTP until you break into that motor and replace some more major components.

So in this case, were both right, as I just read that link, and mine is a 97, as is the other mimbers that have done the swap, Gixxer, and blownpncho both are in the high 12.s or low 13.s with this swap, but both there engines are 97 and 98, that may be the reasoning for it, seeing as there cars are 2001 and 99...

RE: camaro vs honda
Yes, It would. I guess also I didnt specify, What I SHOULD have said, was there is mods out there, but just cause I got 300 HP from them, dont mean he will, but the same mods, IE, computor, cam, CAI etc...are available, but the supercharger is a big part of the mod that he dont have to work with...
