I donno man, I dont think so. I have raced numourus 5.0L mustangs in my past. We used to have a mustang club that had 6 or 7 of them in my small town alone. I wasnt running a camaro but all of the mustangs would significantly faster then my sisters V6 Firebird that was stock.
I understand that this is a camaro forums and i love camaros to the bone and for the most part have a real hate out for mustangs but you do have to give them some credit.
On the other hand, my favorite kind of race is where i am the underdog and take down faster cars. If you are going to race, make sure that there is a specified end of the race because if the mustang is in fact faster then your car he will eventually run you down. At least if the race is say 1/4 mile you have a chance to take him off the line, plus tree him and hope he burns his tires off.
Good luck!

Do you know what rear end is in the Mustang? That makes a world of difference too. If your running 3.73s and hes running a 3.23 for example, you might smoke him in an 1/8th mile run. If hes running 4.10s though, youre toast in an 1/8th. If hes running the same gears as you, I thing he'll get you in a quarter, unless you get a good enough jump on him. As mentioned before, if he smokes the tires on the line and you get traction hes gonna have to work for it. I ran my 94 LT1, against my buddies 01 LS1, and he broke loose on the start, whereas I launched perfectly, I burnt him bad in an 1/8th mile, but by the time we hit the quarter mark, there was no way I was gonna catch him. Best way to figure it out though is line em up and give it a shot. Worst case scenario your friend talks some smack about how his Mustang beat a V6...
