So, on the way home from work today- I pull up to an intersection, a few cars back. Got the windows down and the radio on, and I notice this guy next to me in a Dodge SX2.0- he's kinda looking at me, looking at the light.

I figured he was just jealous of my car

Anyway I go along, and at the next red light I;m at the front of the pack- and he's right there, two lanes over. Looked rather anxious to get going- pulling ahead a foot or so every couple seconds. The light changed to green and... well, everyone knows I like to have fun driving my car so I take right off and get up to 80 km/h pretty quick. And this is just normal driving. So I'm doing this and I look over, and there he is right next to me, still two lanes over, grinning like a maniac.

A second later I think "Oh, he's trying to race me"

So I give it a little more gas and easily leave him in the dust.

Next red light we're next to each other again- I shift out of Overdrive into 1st (since I have an automatic) And as soon as the light changes I take right off, shifting up to second and then back into overdrive as my RPms get up there.

Seconds later I'm leading by about a car length- and my turn off comes up, so I brake and go along my way.

Meh, boring I guess~

Why do you shift your auto? Get a kit and make it shift how you want and just let it do it's job.

And you know, I thought it was pretty funny until I found out SX2.0s have 2.0L l4s for engines.

Now it's hilarious. The guy actually thought he could keep up with my IROC? XD

With what money? :/ I've got too much debt right now to think about any kind of modifications.

And I did that because I've never figured out if it was a faster take-off or not than staying in overdrive >.>

 

Its the same thing, only good to shift when you are racing from a roll and need your rpms to be up already.

I would also be willing to say that on average Camaros are faster than Neons. Of course there's going to be that occasional freak neon, but c'mon man, you know you should have just started with a better base car to mod [8D]

 

OK, you win... 99.9% of the neons on the road (with the exception of modded SRTs) will get spanked like a red-headed stepchild by a z28. Nice kill!
