Its not slower, its just more consistant... I can shift pretty dam fast, but sometimes ill make a mistake and blow a shift, with an auto, its hard to **** it up...

an automatic can never be as efficient as a manual. because a torque converter operates with fluid pressure you always get a little more driveline power leeched off as compared to a manual which is hard contact

^^^What specter said.

It's all about the parasitic power loss. But like I said, GM did a better job compensating for it. Their autos are just plain better than fords.

And I hope cba wasn't trying to express sarcasm over the internet, it doesn't work very well.

The 4.6 auto is slow I raced my friends 94 5.0 5 speed with my auto LT1 he got beat, and i know the 5.0 stick is way faster than the 4.6. Mustanges do stand a chance unless there built.

not true. the 96-98 4.6 was pretty weak, however a 99-04 4.6 would blow the doors off an old 5.0. i actually had a 00 GT for awhile, once ran against a 5m foxbody 5.0, and had a groupe of people there taking out bets against me "the fox has a bigger motor! its going to win!" lol. had over a bus on him by the end of the race. came back to the line and saw some girls crying when they had to hand over their money lol. it was when i was in hs and everyone was dumb though if that makes any difference.
