Thanks for the heads up with the TPI i didnt know they fell off. I would think they would hold up better than the TBI hmmm. Thanks for correcting me.

my friend, if a tpi car runs low 16's they should be shot. A lb9 305 runs low 15's all day, and thats just the lowest model lb9 305, the 230 hp version that came in herritage z28 WILL run mid to high 14's all day long. I mean come on my TBI ran 15.8 bone stock, now im running 14.9's consistantly. So please dont down the 305 it is a very reliable motor that has power potential with the right mods

I used to love mine. The TBI was fun to drive and i used to have a blast. But i was 17 and ihad saved to buy it. So it was a dream come true to me lol. I will never forget my mothers face when i came home with it she was about to kill me. Two days latter she was in love with the car she had a 89 V6 with T-tops so the formula was a dream come true for her as well. Lol ok im way off topic. Any way can you tell us what changed in the TBI engins in the few years they where made, 86-91 some one correct me if im wrong.

well the tbi's actually debut in 88, all years came with 170hp and 255ftlbs. nothing really changed in that aspect, possible gearing or other minor things might have changed, check out thirdgen.org and look the tech articles, you'll learn everything you need to know about the best firebird/camaro era

i dunno i think the firebirds glory days were def in the 3rd gen era however i think the maro leans more twords the mucel wars of the late 60s- the start of the 70s when it was all about the ford versus chevy and mopar the firebird came into its own later in my opinion

the s-10 extreme runs mid-high 14s with a good driver, my second cousin raced before he broke his back, got one cause its automatic, could still drive it cause he did not need to shift, but it is very quick for a lil truck

Every extreme I've raced with my 3.8 I put 2-3 lengths on. Sure they are light but there are only rated at175hp. There is no way a stock extreme can hit 14's. Yourcousin was either moded or lying.

not lying, not modded, he is a damn good driver, and I have ridden in it, i would say that a tpi is going to have more trouble than you guys are wanting to admit. the truck weighs nothing, and has decent power, more than 175. it did have exhaust, and euro taillights, maybe that made it faster, but dont talk crap bout them, they will go. all i am sayin is this guy better not just laugh it off
