my buddy has an 84 camaro Z28 its a 350 TBI and its pretty much stock minus cat,emissions and such, ive been with him and weve smoked plenty of 3.8's grand prix's few camaro's and a hooked up crossfire.

they had an option for the 350 TBI up to 86 i think, my buddy just got a 92 rs with a TBI 305 (i think it was swapped from the TPI)
he said it runs strong but was only around 180-200hp i believe wich is the same as my grand prix, so it really depends on the driver and condition its in.
just think there are vette's out there with almost that same motor and same power.
my buddy actually had a damn near mint 70's trans am 6.6L that lost to a 97 RS and i was in his car when it happened, he didnt know anything about working on cars so it may have needed a tune up at the time.

the 3.8 will beat the 305 pretty easily, the 3.8 has more horse power and its lighter. I dont think a 3.8 could take the 350 though. those things were pretty good. My freind had a 84 Z28 with the 350 and some mods and claim'd he was over 400 HP & trq.
