My friend is buying a 2003 Cobra. I have a full exhaust and I'm getting the tune done this wednesday. I'm looking to hit 330-335 RWHP. You think i'd have a chance at beating it stock? I don't know if 30 RWHP is too much of a difference to compensate for the weight factor.

po
bhp = crank.
also, there is ALWAYS a rough 15% loss in a manual. there will be some differencebut 15% is a good rule of thumb.
also, since both the fbody and cobra run a t56 tranny i would expect similar loss.
cobras will put out 360rwhp, that is about 420 bhp. the terminators were a little underrated, about the same as the later f-bodies, about 30-40hp

btw BHP = RWHP. It could have 420 at the fly, but all the numbers I see say 390. I dunno how much of that goes to the wheels. but seince you said 360 I thought that might be it.
ORIGINAL: SpecterGT260
so the ls1 lost 50 hp through the t56, and the cobra lost only 30?
no, the cobra is underrated, 15% loss gives the cobra about 420bhp. thats something i would expect for mid 12s on IRS

Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, generator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components. Thus the prefix "brake" refers to where the power is measured: at the engine's output shaft, as on an engine dynamometer. The actual horsepower delivered to the driving wheels is less. An engine would have to be retested to obtain a rating in another system. The term "brake" refers to the original use of a band brake to measure torque during the test (which is multiplied by the engine RPM and a scaling constant to give horsepower).
