no **** a a stock10 inchwouldnt make it in a 600 hp car, thats why i said a 600 hp f body with the SUPPORTING MODS. That would be a different rear end. And im not saying they arent badass cars, but how do you explain that pullied and tuned cobra running 13's? Maybe bad driver, i dunno, but ive never seen a completely stock cobra run 12's. Im not knocking that suspension setup, thats what the vettes run and it works for them, ford just didnt get it to work as good, which is why they are back to a solid axle in the GT500's

the stockCobra IS A 13.0 CAR, nothing more or less, dont let the shelby connection put your shorts in a bundle, it was always a little more on the cosmetic side than it should have been. as for the ten bolt, a 30 spline with aftermarket components will handle anywhere up to 650 rwhp, definately not stock, but a stock 12 bolt would not handle that either. In order to maintain power, you gotta do the mods to take it

aaaaaaand here we go ![EEK!](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
1) there is no fundamental difference between the weakness of the cobra suspension and the camaro suspension. as such, to claim a camaro w/ supporting mods (meaning rear end in this case) and compare that to a stock rear cobra is an invalid argument. because a cobra with "supporting mods" will do the same thing.
2)you dont know if it was a bad driver. well i do.
3)refer back to 1, this isnt about good or bad, its about relative weakness, in which case the cobra rear is better than the camaro rear. both need replaced to make it a drag car.
4) they got it to work just fine. vettes are not drag cars by any means, they are built for road racing autoX. the guys who seriously drag race them also switch to a solid rear. there was alot of controversy over going back solid for the GT500, but the way it was built, the car had almost the same handling abilities as the old IRS cobra, or at least that was the reports from ford.

The cobras arent that quick from the factory, they only run mid to low 13's. Yea you can put a $50 pulley on them and get an extr 50hp.The Cobra's independent rear suspension is their weak point. It eats hp and isn't the best for a good launch. I know a guy with an 04 600rwhp Cobra that only runs 11.7s. Yea thats quick but if you build a 600 rwhp f body with the supporting mods you shold be in the very low 11's posibly 10's . So im not saying the Cobras arent nice, but they aren't what everybody makes them out to be. The other night my friend ran an 03 Cobra with a pulley and a tune. My friend had an 02 z28 with lid, lt headers, ory pipe, and borla catback. The camaro ran 13.11 and the cobra ran 13.41

And yea, a camaro with a good head/cam package could hit 500 HP. But today a stock Cobra is pretty rare.

thats just flat out wrong... seriously... The LS1 camaro has 350 HP runs low 13s. the cobra has 390 HP and you exspect it to run the exsact same time? Stock Cobras run in the 12s with no problem. And specter is 100% right in most of what hes saying here.

so the ls1 lost 50 hp through the t56, and the cobra lost only 30?
no, the cobra is underrated, 15% loss gives the cobra about 420bhp. thats something i would expect for mid 12s on IRS
