id like to think so, but the power to weight ratio isnt there... Ive had a mint 91 GTA with a 305 TPI and an auto with a chip and flowmasters and a shift kit, and best IT would do was a 15.4 with 3.08 rear posi...and it was stock rated with 215HP... like stated, the TBI was a weak motor at only 170...

now i got this lancer evo guy breathing down my neck. i told him hed beat me unless he fxcked up shifting.

it's a Lancer ES or Lancer EVO. and yes, a true EVO will walk you like you're standing still. specially if it's a VIII or IX.

 

Volkswagon's auto-with-manual-shifting sounds good and has its place but not in a drag race. He would be better off puting it in DRIVE. As you stated the I5 is rated at 150 HP and offers good mid range power and torque. However i dont see this being a match. The auto pulls some power out of the small engine and pulls power numbers down to around 120 at the ground. As long as it is the I5 and not the 2.0T you will be good to go.

second the lancer says evo on the back but it looks like an earlier model. unless i was looking at the wrong car? dunno. hes *****n out now anyway.
but now go figure my fxckin caliper is sticking and my car stops when i roll in neutral after a few feet so gotta fix that first. its eating my gas and ponies. but i should be able to fix it this week.

Both the evo 8 and evo 9 are low 13 second cars. The Lancer is a far cry from it with 16 second runs. He is right about the TBI not being a power horse. However it does make fair top end vs the TPI and offers good mid range power. She comes out with 180 crank horse power.
