last night on my way to work. i had a run in with an 06 chevy silverado diesel truck. not sure if it was a 1500, 2500, 3500. any way im minding my own business driving and i this chevy truck pulls up beside me at the light. i not even thinking about racing this guy. the light change he takes off chirping his tires and black smoke coming out of his tailpipe. so i decided to play with him i take off after him and start reeling him in until we get caught at the next light together. so the light changes and i get the first jump on about a car and half length. he starts to reel in on me by the time we shut down he was at my bumper. i didnt have time to stop an talk with the guy. but i was curious about those diesel truck what are they 0-60 times and how much horsepower this truck has.

 

2006 model (LLY) 6.6L HP=310 torque=605 ft.lbs 17.5:1 compression
2007 model (LBZ) 6.6L HP=360 torque=650 ft.lbs 16.8:1 compression

 

You can't get a diesel in a 1500, only in the 2500 and 3500. Be careful if one ever wants to race you. The easy plug in tuning on those things bring some crazy power. The numbers dodge destroyer posted are stock. A simple tune can get over 500hp and 700tq easy. I don't know times on them but a simple search on the net and you'll find out just how crazy these trucks can get.

 

a guy that works with my mom, has a HUGE f350 Diesel pushing around 900TQ and i dont know about TQ, but i think he said around 650, anyway, this thing is a off road machine, a easy 3 tons. 5 wheels, whole nine yards. another kid that works with my mom owns a 69 camaro with a built 396, he claims he's around 700hp and 700tq, tubbed with slicks(he daily drives it in summer like that), they were mediocre sized slicks.
anyway, this f350 WALKED that camaro like it was nothing. they lined up on Route 4 outside of McDermott's harley Davidson and the F350 guy launched in 4WD spinning all 4 HUGE tires like nothing, and right from the launch was 4 or 5 cars infront of the camaro and just kept pulling.

i was ****ting bricks, i was so friggan surprised.

 

wow. that is definitely interesting about those chevy diesel trucks. well i kinda figure something out when he started reeling me in like that. then again it is a chevy. do anyone know the top out speed fro those truck.

 

theres a guy around here that has a big ford diesil. theres over 15 grand in it and he has a 6 inch exhaust or 5 inch not sure but its huge. he has over 1500 hp and tq. he laid down over like a 1/4 mile of duallie tire tread on the main road by my house. and no the pavement was not wet. it has a 6 in lift and 37's on it. there is not one thing on it thats stock. i want it.

 

A chip will give it around 120hp. Its kinda hard to beat a deisal off the line when they build boost before they take off. my friends 7.3 powerjoke builds around 30lbs before he launchs. he has 2 chips. We lost to a cummins he had him to 55 by a 1/2 a truck, and then it was over.
He also raced a reg. cab shortbed dodge hemi by 1 truck.

 

while diesels do amazing things with chips, how the hell do u put 2 chips on a car? they only have 1 computer. that just doesnt make any sense at all. unless u mean a flip switch system kinda like the 6 barrel or something like that.

 

i dont know.. lol, but i've heard of it too, my friend's dad who owns a famous tree cutting service here(same kid and dad with 4sec 1/8mile snowmobiles), had a Diesel Silverado with around 1200TQ and 950HP, and that thing was ****-your-pants-fast.. and he claimed he had 3 chips in it, along with all the other stuff, like upgraded turbo and what not. the pipe coming out the back was easily 6 inches big, and each pipe coming off the engine(for headers) was easily 2inches. needless to say, it hauled all 6 snowmobiles in the same trailer quite effortlessly.
