02 LS1 vs. 06 WRX STI

RE: 02 LS1 vs. 06 WRX STI
WRX is definitely single turbo AND so is the STI. The WRX puts out about 230ish and the STI is around 300. Mitsubishi is known to have ****ty trannys in the GSX's and the Evo's so i would say advantage to the STI. STI would be a good race but top end you'll have him. Just make sure its stock because by me almost all of them are modded.

take it from a Subaru tech....all factory turbo Subs are single turbo. the STi makes 300hp @ 6000rpm and 300 ft tq @ 4000 rpm. the only Evo that is faster than the STi is the Evo MR. they are a factory light weight.

the evo is a bigger challange than the STi the sti dose have more horse pwer by a whooping 8! but the evo is in fact lighter the the limited slip in the evo is one the best in the industry and will ajust to your driving style to get better grip and the evo has only one turbo to wind up thusly dose so more efficantly in short EVO > STI

Allow an experienced previous oil tech at a local Subura/VW dealer to shed some light on the subject. Subaru trannies... suck! They are known to have what is referred to in the shop as the "glass 1st gear". These guys constantly destroy their trannies launching at redline. Also, it is well known where I am at (especially in the shop) that stock Evos own STIs. If you go on www.streetfire.net you should be able to find a clip from Top Gear of them doing a test comparing the EVO, STI, and Audi A4 Quattro. The Evo clearly pulls on both of them both in a straight line and making a lap around a track. Also, just so none of you are mistaken, I have seen a crap load of highly modded EVOs and STI running at the local 1/8mile drag strip and the EVOs always win down there. Saw one guy launch his EVO from redline and run a 7.50 in the 1/8.
Also, I have driven many STIs and stock they aren't much. However, remove the cat and put a free flowing muffler on there + install a good CAI, those things are not to be trifled with. I'd say I would be hesitant to bother racing these guys in my '95 Z28 if I knew they were modded. Ofcourse my Z28 is mostly stock.
Oh! SpecterGT260, some time go on Cardomain and take a gander through the Nissan 240s! You'll see it is actually becoming quite popular to twin charge 4 bangers these days. Usually Supercharger and a turbo but some guys are doing a twin turbo set up on the 240s.

By the way did any of you see that recent issue of Sport Compact Mag. where they had 5 EVOs trying for 1000HP? None of them hit it but they all had atleast in the 800HP range and one had something like 960HP!
