Crappy news everyone, I'm going to Afganistan for 15 months. Wish me luck! Navy = Never Again Volunteer Yourself. And I'm drunk.........yeah, Hoorah! Leave in July 07 daggoniit.I could use a pep talk or something. First major deployment, 15 months too. Screwed>.....................
At least your navy, no time in the dusty streets. as for the prep talk..............lots of extra money. Good luck and use your instant messanger to keep in touch with your friends back home, it helps pass the time..............at least there's girls in the navy, none in the infantry[:'(] ...........And never never ask for luck. Use your skill to come home.
I second what 74454 said. At least you dont have to get all yuckie and dirty. Bro if you had to go walking around in the streets, or even driving sand get everywhere....every.....where..... Yeah there too, and its hot as ....well it pretty hot, I have a picture of another soldiers watch , in the shade, 140 degrees. This isnt the right thread for this, sorry, got on a rant I couldnt get out of.

For a pep talk, as others mentioned, the combat pay you'll receive will help that Camaro. You'll also have port calls that present plenty of chances for sampling the world cuisine(the ladies).
Our you floating with a MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) or is a transfer of ships in the gulf region? I know your possibly under OPSEC so you can't say but just curious because my brother is just finishing his deployment there. USMC 15th MEU,1st Tank BN, Delta Co. His personal report is don't believe **** from the media, they don't see the good happening. Things are better and getting more so daily. I know how you Navy men like your Marines so I'll leave you with this one which you most likely already heard.
"Why does every Naval ship have a platoon of Marines aboard? Because sheep are to obvious"
Best wishes to you sir,
