Might want to seriously re-think that plan....just sayin. It's not likely to end at you just doing a frame cleanup, paint the frame, and body reinstall. You can clean up a good portion of the frame with the body still on. I did mine with the car up on a lift.

 

You thinking a bunch of stuff will break? Ideally I will take the entire body off either way.

 

No, but yeah I'm sure you'll break something you don't want to. I've just seen a frame off turn into a can of worms before. Oh well, as long as everything is out in the open, might as well replace the rear bushings cuz they're a little sloppy, and then the rear wheel bearings, and look the rearend is leaking, and the brake lines are rusty, and the front suspension could need replacing, and then.... Meanwhile, two years later...... Heck, even some frame on projects drag out way too long. Like, my current one for instance.

 

Well I already planned on new suspension and bushings and body mounts and everything. It's just easier with the body off hahaha.

 

Definitely makes it a lot easier for replacing the rear trailing arm bushings. Doing those with the body on is a real beech.

 

Exactly. Plus I don't want to have to take everything back off in two years because I got lazy NOW. so I would rather just do it when it's in beginning stages.

 

OK I have decided to do the frame off. Once I finish the camaro I will start taking the vette body off. I got my wiring harness but can't pick it up til Monday. So all weekend the camaro is my project. Pics will be taken. Lots of them!

 

Old harness removed. A LOT of clipped wires. Mostly for courtesy lights it looks like.

 

Turns out, the original panels all have their proper color underneath the crappy carpet stuff. I'll post pics once I get a scraper and get all the adhesive off!

 

Adhesive remover is working GREAT. Top pieces are after using the remover. Bottom two are in process. Original pieces are in good shape mostly.
