Today's project went quickly! Spent a few hours fabricating a two piece driveline loop, and installing it. Made the loop a bolt in, and with top/bottom halves bolted together also. This way I could install it without removing the driveline, and I can drop the bottom half off if I ever need to pull the transmission. The requirement for having it within 6" of the front joint makes a fixed loop a pain with a 4 speed car, as coming back enough to clear the input shaft means the tail housing will be inside the loop, so this eliminates that issue. Minimum is 2"x1/4", and I had some 2"x3/8", so that's what I made it out of. Put tabs on each side to bolt the top and bottom together.

Nice choice on the Falcon. It is a lightweight Monster if done right.

My brother has a 1968 Falcon and it turned out pretty awesome for a track car! Nice project. Here are a few links to his car at Bandimere in Denver, CO.

Thanks! Wanted to do a 1st or 2nd gen Nova, but the Falcon just fell into my lap, and couldn't see any reason it wouldn't be a similar car to build from. Looks like a cool Falcon your brother built!

My project today was to get rid of the factory ITM shifter handle on my 4 speed. It uses a lift up method of getting into reverse that keeps from ever hitting reverse accidentally, but a bit awkward to pull up and over just gripping the ****. I had an old Hurst automatic shifter I got at a swap meet for $5, so it became the donor. Disassembled the automatic shifter, and cut the last couple inches off the mounting point. Then disassembled the IMR shifter, and cut the same off it. After some grinding and welding, it fits and sits in the right location. The T below the shift **** gives me something to grasp to pull up as I go over to reverse. Should keep people guessing when they look at this shifter, and wonder what or how it works!



Also picked up a nice straight rear bumper off local CL for $50. It needed rechrome, but that was perfect, as I planned on painting it anyway to resemble the old fiberglass bumpers used back then. I scuffed it with a paint removal disc and then primed and painted it. Gave it a clear coat to get the right gloss to it, and mounted it up. Drilled a couple holes either side of the license plate for my shock fill lines.

Thanks Darren! I only bought the shifter because it was $5 and had a Hurst T handle on it. The rest was sitting in my parts pile, so figured if it didn't work out there was no loss.
You guys going to the Albany swap meet this weekend?
