Thanks a lot! Yes, I still have the Austin, and will forever. My 21 yr. old granddaughter has laid claim to it, and I told her to be patient, but it was her's when I die!

I've got more to post here, but I spent the last couple days in the hospital. I had a massive gallbladder attack, and the doctors finally said it was bad enough to override the quarantine rules. Had to submit to a Cvid19 test, and pass first, but this morning they removed my gallbladder which had inflamed to the size of my liver! No amount of morphine was powerful enough to do anything but reduce pain from a 10 to an 8 or 9, so they removed it. had 2.3cm x 1.0cm stone blocking the outlet duct!
Afterwards I felt so good I was able to eat normal food for the first time in several months!

Will post some more images tomorrow, as I've progressed to body filler, and sanding, plus a fair amount of other things.

A few more updates. Lots going on since the whole quarantine thing keeps us home anyway. So rather than sit and be bored I work on the '39.
Got the bodywork pretty well finished, and shot the car in high build primer. As most of us have discovered once you start sanding and blocking the primer it reveals more little spots needing attention, so taking care of those now.

Located an original license plate light and rebuilt the socket for the lamp. Made a plate bracket and mounted it up to check fit.

Dug out all my new glass and after finishing the channels and weatherstrip, I have all the side glass installed now.

Got the interior door and side panels traced out and used paper patterns to lay out my panels for the interior.

Also dug out some new black carpet I had stored here for my '63 Falcon that never got installed. Just the perfect amount to do the '39 floors, and not more than a foot of scrap leftover! Too close, but made it.

Postman was working OT yesterday and delivered my new black headliner, so I'm going to install it today. Then it's ready for windshield and rear windows to go in!
I purchased pre sewn black vinyl in a 2"x 3" diamond pattern to do door and side panels old school style. Once the headliner is in I'll begin covering all the panels I have cut out and get them installed also.

Sanded and fought all my bows into the loops on the new headliner. Man those are a battle to get the curved ends fed through the loops, and even worse after the first one! Got it marked up for center, and hung it from all 5 bows. The first two are just wire bows, but the last three are stamped out and screw in place at each end.

Plenty of extra material, so sure no issues worrying about whether it might be close in places! Once I got it hung I began pulling it forward, and then used 3M spray adhesive to attach it around the windshield opening, and clipped it with small clips to hold it while I worked it back to the rear window. Then glued and clipped it back there also. Worked it side to side with more glue and clips until it was smooth. The 3M glue is nice because you can pull it back off if you do so immediately, so working ripples out is easier.
Still need to steam it, but it's pretty smooth, and just some folds from shipping that need to relax a bit.

Got the interior cut to shape, and covered the kick panels in smooth black vinyl. The rest will get the diamond pattern. Reinstalled my shifter and boot, and the bucket seats too.

Thanks!

As you know the PNW is pretty restrictive on shows this summer, and hope that changes soon so we can get to some!
I had hopes of getting my windshield installed soon and driving the '39 to a cruise here or there after that. Looks like I may get that done late June as that's the first date a glass guy gave me to put it in. I had an earlier date, but got a call from the surgeon who is doing my latest hernia surgery telling me I'm scheduled for June 12th, the same day the windshield was supposed to go in the car. So had to reschedule it.

Our car club has been getting together about once a week informally in empty K Mart parking lot just to stay in touch. I'm beginning to see the same among other car groups here and there around town. I think most guys are tired of waiting, and took the reins to do their own thing without formal scheduled cruises.
I see Battleground, Wa. is having a "corona cruise" this Fri. evening. Was considering driving up there in my Austin just to see it, and see how they do it under today's restrictions.

Battle Ground is my neck of the woods,I'm about 15 miles out further near Yacolt.
I belong to a cruise group on Facebook that's been going out pretty much every weekend,I haven't be able to go lately having too many irons in the fire but they are a great group of guys and gals, mostly Camaros but all are welcome. We do beach cruises and gorge cruises etc. on the weekends.

We like to do things that involve driving our cars also, vs. sitting in parking lots at car shows waiting to see who gets a trophy. Some of the guys like that, but most of us don't.
Still undecided if I'll go to Battleground tonight. This little heatwave we're having makes me tend to think not since none of my hotrods have AC.

Thanks craby! I love building cars, and at almost 70 I think this might be my last full build.

I got my interior panels covered the other day, and today I installed the old school diamond tuck panels on doors and 1/4 panels.

The door handles were decent, but ***** were corroded and stuck, so frozen to the handles. I found kits to rebuild the window cranks and vent cranks, so cut them off and installed all new *****.

Also got the stereo in today, and just temp wired speakers and antenna to test it. I put a new stereo in my daughter's car, so she gave me her old JVC that doesn't have all the newest stuff like blue tooth, etc. Plenty good for my old hotrod, and free!
Waiting for two more speakers to arrive, and then I'll finish the divider panel, and the stereo and interior will be done..
Windshield goes in June 18th. Had it planned for the 12th, but surgeon called and told me my hernia surgery is the 12th, so changed it. Fortunately I'll just finish any lifting before surgery so I can be driving the '39 when I'm recovering and under 20 lb. lifting restriction Had my gallbladder removed the first of May in emergency surgery, and same surgeon doing my hernia in June. I've felt crappy the last year, and everything gave me indigestion. Since surgery for the bad gallbladder I feel better than I have in 30 years! No indigestion, and after over 30 years of taking acid blockers, antacid pills, and still having upset stomach, I'm off all medication now for the last month! What a great feeling to have a normal stomach!

A friend called me from BG tonight,he said it's packed and almost like The End of The World Run,people from all over.
I had to take a pass, did a 1200 mile 3 day ride on the Harley last weekend and my lawn was about a foot deep now. lol
It's supposed to start raining tonight so I figured I'd better get it done or I'll have to hire goats to do it next weekend.

Yeah we like to drive our cars, much prefer that to sitting at shows,my car was built to drive not show.
It's a modest 400hp at the wheels with more money in the suspension than the engine by far and she's a six speed stick so more built for carving canyons than straight line stuff.
She's got a late model LS7 clutch a short throw shifter and an aluminum flywheel so I can bang gears off as needed.
Lowered of course with sticky Michelin Pilot Sports putting it to the ground,275's up front and 315's in the back.
All tubular suspension from the K-member back,Sam Strano springs and sway bars, Koni shocks, subframe connectors, etc..
These 4th gen Camaros get no respect ha ha,so it's fun to give some of those uppity sports car guys fits when I run away from them.
Oh yeah baby, she was built to ride hard and put away wet.
