LOL you are comparing an issue with being able to turn a car off with your knee with a car built with a system that was designed to fake out testing equipment? VW will not be recalled since Recalls are for safety items only.

In 1980 if you would have gone into a dealership and said "I need my car fixed because it shuts off when I hit the ignition with my knee" "how about don't hit the ignition with your knee" and you would have been laughed out of the dealership. With the current safety expectation I am surprised engine will run with the hood up. You could stick you finger in the belt you know.

 

ya that's getting just way out there now ,could bump the combined key fob,thats outrageous ,its like saying a tall person cant drive the car couse there knees could hit the streering wheel an couse an accident ,if the tilt was in the wrong position wich has some truth ,if I have my tilt all the way down it hits me knees an could inhibit steering the car in my 4th gen,an cause an accident,i would call that driver error all the way for both instences,we are heading down the wrong road ,in what used to be a simple way of life to making such critical safety standards ,along with lets keep a magnifying glass on everything ,an anything

 

I could see how it might be an issue if the fob flipper button latch was weak or got depressed, with a keychain of weight to overcome the flipper spring tension it could, 50/50 chance bend down and possibly get hit by a knee due to ignition location in the column. I however would rather have the "switchblade" fob with the key still in it. The recall fix was to take the "key" out of the fob and blacklist the transmitter in the fob from the anti theft computer. Leaving you with the keyless fob and a stand alone key.

 

thats what they get when they play with new tech ,instead of staying with something that works ,I don't use any keyless remote on either of my Camaros ,what ever happen to just put the key in the door an unlock it ,its so hard I guess

 

There was a video on YouTube where they tested it, and you really had to slam your knee up to hit the key for it to shut off

 

like some idiot looking for any lawsuit they can find.
