Default What's a Camaro? (Newbie)

Haha jp. I do know what a camaro is but that's about all. I don't really know much about cars, that's why I joined this forum. You see, I was saving up money to move, but now I'm interested in buying a car. Right now I drive a 97 Cavalier, so yeah, I need an improvement. Also, I have a lot of time on my hands so that's great considering I could work on the car in that time. I seen a camaro 96 Z28 online for $5800, but the only hang up is it has 111k miles. I don't have good judgement in cars (yet) so maybe I'll continue saving and learn from you guys.

Buy a Camaro, That would be a Huge step up from a Cavalier. You will learn alot hanging out here but sounds like you need to look into the 4th Gen section if your wanting to know about a '96.... and Welcome to the Forum!!

To be acurate in answering your question... camaro isnt in the dictionary like avalanche or mustang is. It started out as the XP-836 then became known as the f-car, this was in 1964. Soon it was named 'Panther' untill its unveiling when it was officially named Camaro. Its a french word meaning "comrade, pal or chum".

Yea, I read that in a Camaro book I bought about a year ago and it was a let down.

Another thing thats a let down is when spell check on Camaro Forum keeps trying to tell you that youre spelling Camaro wrong.

I got my 98 for only 3900 and 111k isnt bad if they are country miles. City miles reap havoc on an engine. I would do a little more shopping around give me your area code and Ill see if I can find ya something man

I paid $10,700 for my 01 z28 a little less than a year ago with 75k miles on it. I didnt get a great deal on it considering it had been wrecked and the sound system didnt work. Two things I obviously didnt know when I test drove it. Ive driven the crap out of it for 13k miles since and they hold up well.

My 86 iroc-z is going to be my nice car the 01 is a daily driver.

A cavalier is a great little economy car not really a drivers car. Keep the cavalier for bad weather because my 01 sucks in snow.
