Default Value of 2002 SS/Z28

Hello, I just joined and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to answer my question.

My dad passed away a couple months ago and my mom has asked me if I could help her sell his 2002 35th edition SS/Z28 Camaro with 27K miles on it.

I don't know what a fair price would be to both my mom and a buyer, or what I can expect to get from it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Was your father the original owner? Clean car fax? Condition of the car? Option? In the case of a SS there will be SLP options.

The SS package was not built by GM, It was licensed by GM. GM sent the car to a company called SLP and they added the items that made up the SS package. There is a sticker in one of the door jams that lists all the SLP options and an.

So depending on the answers from above I would guess 20-35K

If the car is a rare one owner car with the LE1 package and a eaton rear and you can get a couple of rich guys that have been looking for one who knows how high at auction.

100% agree, minimum of $20K all day long in any market.
These cars are fast rising in price here lately and that's a very nice example you have there..

I have been seeing Nice Z28's with asking prices around 25K, but that is dealer asking price. Dealers can sell cars for more because they can be held accountable. AS IS does not have anything to do with false advertising. But an individual can claim I didn't know" 2002 seems to be the preferred year.

Thank you for your and others replies. As far as the Carfax goes, I will have to look into that. I do know the car is in good condition, though. My dad was not the original owner. I will have to get my mom to check for that sticker since I'm out of state.

I was curious if you had any tips on where to list the car. I've had an ad on Facebook and Craigslist for about two weeks, with a selling price of $22K but no takers.

Thank you so much!

I have been out of the business for awhile. This may be a case for a consignment sale. You find a close reputable classic car dealer and they will sell the car for you. Key word is "reputable". Some research on the dealers history is warranted. The reason you are having trouble selling the car is few people have 22K sitting in the bank and most standard banks do not like to finance cars older then 10 years. Most people that can lay out 20k+ are not looking through facebook. They do not want to deal with, is the car a fake or has it been modified or not maintained. Most classic dealers have a list of people looking for certain cars and they will have available financing through alternative lending institution.

The dealer may make you an offer on the car, its been my experience this offer will be half what they believe the value of the car is.

BTW Sorry for your loss. When my Father passed helping my Mom sell off his stuff was tuff for me.

What area is the car in? Nothing specific just general area.

Hello, sorry for the delay and thank you for the great info! The area is around Northwest Arkansas. Thanks for the condolences, too.
