Default second gen camaro year?

recently became the owner of this car but the old owner was also given this car so we don't really know what year it is after looking around i think its an 1980 car but not sure. Car seems to be bone stock with a weird automatic trans that has P R N D S L no idea what the S and the L are also has a 4.4l v8 would just like to know what you guys think about the car what year you think it is what package it is and if its worth rebuilding.

not sure how to add pictures once i figure that out ill post

S is second gear. L is low gear (1st).
Look at the VIN tag. If it's no newer than a 1980, the sixth digit is the year (3-9=1973-79, A=1980). 1981 started the 17 digit VIN's, and the 10th digit (B) stands for 1981.
Do you not have a title with the car?

Yes, host the pics elsewhere, copy the IMG code, paste here and the full picture will show. After a post count of 3, you become a full access member. But even then, when you direct upload an image, only the thumbnail will show with a "click to display full image".

Do you own the car or are you looking to buy it? If you own it, what are your plans with the car?

Are you sure you don't mean 5.0L (305ci)? That year Camaro had a 250 (6cyl), 305 and 350 (V-8) motors.

It looks to be your basic Camaro which there is nothing wrong with that. From the pictures, it doesn't look to be in that bad of shape, but I'm not sure what's going on with the driver side quarter panel, did someone start doing body work or is the paint just starting to come off or what? The interior doesn't look to be in too bad of shape.

Good luck and have fun and welcome to the site.

That car has obviously been taking root outside for a number of years. Stored on open ground like that is the worse thing to do.
As ground water evaporates, it goes up and through the car. Serious floor board and frame rot is likely.

I also see a motor with no air cleaner on it, so what got down inside the motor?

Only the shadow knows....LOL

No air cleaner because there's no carburetor there. At least they installed an anti-mouse rag in the intake manifold!

WHAT....those pesky critters ate the carb?

How dare they....
I still think it could be a decent project, if the owner has the time and budget to do it but you are very correct, sitting like that can be it's worse enemy.
