Re Intro -maybe?
Hello All,
Registered a while ago and not sure if a introduced myself, so here goes;
I currently have a 2000 Z28; Manual, Silver with a Black Leather gut. It is first manual Camaro and I love this car! It is my 8th Camaro, 2nd 4th Gen. In the past I've owed a 95automtic Z28, 2 89s IROC's (both 5.7 TPIs, the last I got running 14:00's in the 1/4 with the stock 3:08 or 3:09 rear (it was a while ago but I remember they where "highway gears”), also an 78 Z28, my beloved 80 Camaro and a 77 Type LT and my first, also a 77 Type LT.
I was and auto Mechanic for many years but traded in that for a city job. I still work on cars in my spare time on the side for some extra money and of course spending time taking care of and modifying my cars.
As far as my 2000, it showed 214313 (now 218500) on the odometer and is/was all original as far as I kown with the exception of MDS ignition coils. Got it from a small time dealer out in Massachusetts, which I found on e-bay an purchase sight on seen because of the price, color combination and of course the LS1 and the six speed manual. I got it in February of 2010 and since I’ve mad some changes;
Dumped the 16 inch wheels for 2000+ SS wheels -I think they look great on the car and I was never one for aftermarket wheels
SLP Air Lid with smooth bellow along with a K&N filter
DuraFlex Functional SS Hood- For the price it’s great but I don’t think I’d recommend and I haven’t painted it yet
SLP LoudMouth II Exhaust (Y Pipe Back) and a CME Tip set up with took a lot of time fitting it in (the CME tips) but I am very happy with the end result -Sounds looks Great!!! Highly Recommended!!! But I guess I should get the Valance too, but not too happy with the $300 - $325 price tag
Next, probably header -long or short and new Cats - would really like to keep it street legal as possible
I’d really like to know if the motor and Tranny are original but I can’t see the numbers and I have no history on the car because I purchased it from this little dealer.
I look forward to the wealth of information the forum has to offer and hope a can contribute as well.
