I Bought An 88 RS A Couple Months Ago For $1200.00 And Fell In Love. It Has Had Rear Body Damaged But Was Repaired. Otherwise You Can Tell The Car Was Taken Very Good Care Of. The Interior Flawless And The Drive Train Runs Like A Camaro Much Younger. Anyways My First Thought Was I Need To Replace The 6 With A 305. Did Some Searching And Ran Across An 84 Camaro With A 305 For Believe It $70 Bucks I Almost **** my Pants. It Looked Very Rough , Alot Of Rust And Could Not Get The Motor To Turn Over. Got It Home And Jumped It Off The Solenoid And It Fired Right Up. Ran Fair Had Some Slight Popping At High Rev. So I Decided I Would Do A Quick And Easy Partial Rebuild And Slap It In. Well ....... Somewhere I Lost Sight Of That Idea And Three weeks Later I Have A $3000.00 Wifes Nightmare HaHaHa. I Bored The Block 060. Over. Ordered Some 305HO Pistons To Fit The New Bore. Rebuilt The Heads And Replaced A Few Bad Valves. Installed A Speed Pro 220/231 Cam With A 480 Lift, A Weiand Stealth High Rise, Holley 600 Vacuum Secondary, MSD Pro-Billet Ready To Run Distributor, Headers And Lots Of Flassy Chrome. Noticed Old Cam Had A Couple Flat Lobes Which Explained The Popping. Anyways Now That The Motor Is Built I Had Second Thoughts Of Pulling The 6 In The RS. It Runs So Good And The A/C Works Perfectly. A/C Takes Main Priorty In Southest Texas HaHaHa So I Went On The Hunt Again And Found A 85 IROC Body For $600.00 Nice Rims And Tires, Interior Is Fair, Has A Hole In The Windshield And Two Dents In The Fender From Where His Wife Went After him With Baseball Bat HaHaHa. But Nevertheless It Is An IROC. So Come This Weekend I'll Be Picking Up The Body And Putting The Two Together. Hoping All Goes Well. I've Always Been Good With A Wrench But, This Is The First High Performance Motor I've Ever Built. Frankly Start And Break In Scares The **** Out Of Me. Wondering Did I Put Enough Lube, Is Priming The Oil Pump Gonna Help Keep Friction Down, Are The Valves Set Too Tight. HaHaHa I Think I'm Obessing Again. Well Hope To Chat At Ya Soon.
