Not sure what I have!
I have a late 70's model camaro. I've been told it is 79! Not sure how to find out! Been told it is a z28 but everything i have read says inside the headlights would be black! Mine are silver. It has the 5 slotted breathers on the side, a stinger looking hood scoop, the headlights are 2 big outer lightsthat are round and 2 small inner lights that are small and square! any one who might know what I've got.......HELP! Needs interior work but it left 2 black lines all the way down my street!

RE: Not sure what I have!
Welcome to the forums. Good luck on your search. I think (could be mistaken) the 'breathers' on the side indicate its a trans am or fire bird, not so much a Camaro, then again I am not too sure about it.

RE: Not sure what I have!
Looks like a Z28 to my eye, the Z28 had that style hood scoop as well as the fins on the side in the second gen cars. Easy way to tell is that if the car has a the stock engine and carb the Z28 came with a 350 and a 4bbl carb on it. Looks like the car has been painted which would explain the headlight surrounds not being the right color. Im jelous, I have a 76 and they didnt make a Z28 that year or in 75 because of emmisions laws. I do have the Z28 hood and a 350 motor though.

Its a 78 or 79with that type of fender vents. in80 and up they were different. It could be a Z as they are the ones that came with the hood scoop. My 78had all the trim around the headlights, and windowspainted black, but it started to flake off after a few years.I bought mine new in 1978. The Z-28's had decals on them that said Z-28 but they could have been removed. The vin # on the dash and the reg. will tell you what year it is.

'birdracer is right on the money; i'm gonna say '79 due to the holes in the front fenders where it looks like it had the flares with the air dam that were once attached.
'80-'81 had a "pocket or open" fender vent, plus they had "skirts/flares" on the front side of the rear wheel opening (i know for sure on '81).
Only vin# will tell the tale as all parts would interchange.

80 and up not only had different fender vents and the flares in front of the rear wheels they had a different hood scoop.
