It is not a Camaro
Hello,
I have a 1963 Studebaker Avanti. I joined the forum to find out more about the engine that was put in it back in the 1970's. So my moniker should really be “LT1? Avanti” with a question mark. I purchased the car in spite of the engine about 17 years ago. Originally it had Studebaker's supercharged 289. But the 350 has impressed me with its smooth power delivery that never ends …. at least at speeds I will drive a car that is nearly 50 years old.
If you are unfamiliar with Studebaker Avantis they have an interesting story. Designed and built in very little time to rescue the car maker from bankruptcy, they came along a little too late. They set speed records on the Salt Flats to become the fastest 4 passenger production car in the world in the early 1960's (169 or 170mph). Although they are little known to the public, I wonder how much their design influenced designers of the muscle car era of the late 60's.
Looking forward to learning more about old muscle cars from the 60's and new ones.
Thanks,

"Avanti" means "advance" or "forward" in Italian.

Welcome to CF LT1 Avanti. If you have any questions about the engine, feel free to put it up in the tech section.
I already have one answer if your 350 is a 1970-72 LT-1. Note the dash that the Gen II LT1 doesn't have.

Thank you for the information on LT engines. I noticed that distinction in name after reading a comparison of the 1970 LT-1 to a 1996 LT1 by Vette Magazine... but too late for a forum name change. I will be posting questions in the tech section.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
