Default Noob sayin hi and looking for an answer

First want to say hi to eveyone. Now for the question, I have a 97 sonoma, 4.3 v6, 5 spd, have done some things to it, it's quick for a 4wd v6 truck, but want something more that will outrun my buddy's '02 gt stang, was looking at a 3rd gen camaro, was thinking of a 91 Z with the tbi350 and go from there, or should I just find a solid body and frame and build up my own motor, if building motor will be a 4bolt main. Am looking to get decent power and mpg, any help will be greatly appreciated, and will keep everyone posted on the build, which ever whay it goes.

if you want good power and mpg i would go or a late 4th gen. 3800 (2001-2002). not sure how the gas is on the V8's, LS1,LT1. but the gas on my 01` 3800 is "ok" is not bad but its not great.

mpg doesn't have to be great, keeping sonoma for daily, but I do want to get better than 12, without putting my foot in it of corse
