Default Newbie here!

Though I am no professional, I am only a newbie to this forum. Been around stockers, huge hp stuff, classics and modified's for a long time. Going to be starting a project 1st gen soon and figured I would sign up and pick brains and read up on stuff that creates headaches and things that solve those headaches. Also to look for ideas for every facet of the project. Looking forward to reading stuff from the guru's and learning as much as I can to put it toward the new project. Hope to chat with many of you!

Thanks guys. Cant wait to tear into this project. Already been browsing around and see a bunch of cool info and help from just about everyone. Forums like this make it great for the average guy to fix and build stuff by himself in his garage.

welcome need4speed77

Hope to see you active in the lounge and ROTM as well.

Quick note, You've come to the right place. we have some brilliant minds here. Scooch, Camaro 69, camaroboy68ss, and Orocker (we just call her O) are some of the more active 1st gen.er's

And as I say to every one. If you don't know the answer, Craby does. He even knows the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow... African and European...

It is a 68. I am not going for a number matching or even a period specific resto. I am restoring everything to make it what I desire. A good looking, clean ride that I can bang gears in with the best of them. The car itself right now is a nightmare. It needs everything. I am going to tear it all down and have the frame done then go from there. I already have a Moser rear end, minus gears, that is gonna transfer all the power to the ground. Don't have the tranny yet. Prolly going with a TKO 600 but will have to see what the engine dyno's at. I am shooting for 700 hp from the 434 small block that I am building a little at a time as we speak. If it dyno's north of 700 I don't think the Tko 600 will suffice. This bucket of rust is gonna take a few years to complete so I am going to document everything with pics and when the time comes I will start a thread about it. Thats the skinny.

Sounds like a good build right up my direction. You can start a build thread now and update as things are done. Several of the other members are doing that.

Things are moving at a snails pace right now. Just collecting parts and working on the motor. The motor should be done soon and off to the dyno. Hoping for 700+ hp. As soon as I get more parts, enough to start working on certain areas, then I will dig in. I will start the thread then. Hopefully everything goes smooth but as with all projects there are bound to be hidden obstacles and issues. Should be challenging and fun.
