Default Newbie here

Hi my name is Neil, i am 25 years old and i'm from Los Angeles CA. New to this site, and new to the Camaro platform. I currently own a Subaru WRX, and I have just recently began to appreciate domestics especially the first generation Camaro. Why you might say? With the influx of today's technology found in import racing/tuning, i find it hard to believe that a new generation youth as myself has never entertained the thought of veering towards the domestic car scene. After watching countless episodes of Overhaulin' I am beginning to appreciate the beauty of classic musclecars as an immediate alternative to the import car craze that has hit southern cali. My heart stopped when I saw a speed channel advertisement for Year One depicting a cherried out white 69 Camaro convertible with Hugger orange stripes-wow love at first site! I finally achieved my career in law enforcement and now I am making enough money to take on this passion that all of you in this forum share. I have little to no experience with a wrench, however I am a fast and dedicated individual willing to immerse myself inside and out of the 69 Camaro. I do not intend to buy a car that has already been restored from the ground up. I want a car to become part of me, and there is no other way than purchasing a shell, buying the essential parts that I need for my project and completing the installs myself. Like all things new, of course I will struggle, fumble and curse my way through the whole project. However, I am willing to take those chances and dedicate countless of hours to smile at the end result of a 69 Camaro done my way, by me and for me-blood, sweat and plenty of elbow grease. So here I am, after work from a 12 hour shift and on the internet researching a community that can point a newbie like me to the right direction! I hope with this introduction I can be taken under the wings of those on this forum that were once in the same place I am, many years ago. I hope by the end of my project, I will become a skilled mechanic specializing in the future car of my dreams, and most of all meeting the new and interesting people here in this forum with vast amounts of knowledge gained from the same inspiration, appreciation and passion coming from the Camaro!!!!!!

i hope that you can fufill your dream of wanting to build your own car. i have complete faith in you and i beleive that anyone can do with the great help that the guys on this site can give you. I am still learning and i want to follow the same path that you do. I have alwayes like the domestic cars, it just kind of rubbed off on me from my dad and my brother. I am kind of partial to camaros but my brother is a mustang guy. anyway welcome to the site and i do hope that your registering here will eventually get you to your dream.

that is a hell of a goal.

With little experience, remember that the learning curve will be very large. Make some contacts that can help you mechanically.

Good luck and have fun

there are alot of different things that you can use to learn more. Super chevy and camaro perfomance are fun to read to learn more and as far as findong parts for your car then classic industries might be able to help you out in that department.
