Default newbie

Hello everyone. My name is Holly & I'm a newbie to this forum. Originally from Ohio but have lived in the great sunny state of Florida since 98. Love it down here in Orlando. Anyways my 1st car back in the 80's was a beautiful 67 camaro. Was purple with a metallic fleck and we made that sucker loud. But being a stupid teen I ran it into the ground and just didn't have the money to keep it up. So I sold it. Now that I have turned 40........yes I did just admit to that....lol.........I needed a new car. My son is 16 and will soon take over my little blue box of a car--99 ford escort----so I decided that a camaro was def in my future. At first I just wanted to get something that was already fixed up. But after talking to a good friend who is restoring a 69 of his own and researching what all is involved I was bitten by the camaro car bugand def want to do the work myself. My husband is abig car freak.........he's into the Ford Probe. Has 2 of them and his friends are constantly doing engine swaps andall kinds of stuff, so I have someone who will be able to teach me alot and help me to restore an old camaro.

About a month ago my husband kindof stumbled on toa 69that was for sale. I would say that we really stole it for what we paid for it and the condition it's in. I posted some pics herehttps://camaroforums.com/m_93772/tm.htm. I can't wait to get started tearing it apart.

Welcome to the forum. I can't believe you sold it...[][&o][&o]. It's sweet that you are getting back into the scene again, Good luck on your build. Do you have any pic's of your first one?. The 69 is looking good, I thought it would be a bit rough, but looks like you got a good deal.

Lmao, I just realizedthat in another thread I posted "I really hope you are a chick..."...brain took a vacation or huffing too many diesel fumes, lol. That sucks, no pic's. Everyone has their own personal touches that make a car unique, but you had a 1st gen and mostly no matter what, they are all awesome. Now that I think about it, you said purple metallic, another girl on the forum has a 1st gen aswell with a purple block. I was reluctant to look at first but it actually looked cool. What shade of purple was it comparable to and was it standard small metallic flake?. I love paint, not great at painting but you have to have that finess touch swing floaty thing goin on...lol.

Welcome. Please dont take offence to this, its all in good fun, but, I dont think your husband will be able to help you. He is working on a ford probe. he might be able to help you install a wing or some stickers or something hahahahaha.
Just kidding.
I have a 69 too, when you get to the questions you are having a rough time with, come on over to the first gen section and we will be able to help you out.

Well he is very knowledgable in alot of cars. He just happens to love the ford probe and goes to alot of there meets. I frankly can't stand to drive it. Feel like I am sitting on the ground and his drives like a tank. But he can teach me alot about the engine and all of the different parts that make it work.

God I feel like I have gone back to school....lol

And as far as what color my old 67 was.....like a marroonish purple. We made that sucker loud. Put a cherrie bomb muffler and headers if I am not mistaken on it.Could here me in the next town. Was alot of fun but we blew the head gasket and heads one day racing it and it was never the same. Like I said I never had the money to keep it and sold it. The day I sold it the reverse went, so it had alot of problems.
