Default New from TN

I recently bought my first Camaro as a project car for my son and I. It is a 96 with a 3.8L. I have been lurking for a few days now and wanted to say thanks for all the helpful info that I have already read. The 3.8 runs but has a loud pecking sound in the front of engine. I am thinking it is in the upper engine but not sure right now. We plan on loosening some nuts and bolts this weekend. We have a fewother minor things like window lift motor, door panel switches etc that need replacing butbody and interior is in pretty good shape. My son is 16 and since I missed a few years of his life with the military, maybe we can make up some time working together on this car. Depending on what we find, we might repair engine or replace with a donor. I am sure we will have a few questions along the way.

Welcome to the forums. Always nice to hear about projects like that, I am sure the kid will appreciate it later. I assume you already know where to get the best info and ask all the questions... I would only add to that with this, if you dont know too much of the history I would go ahead and do a full tune up, oil, filters, fluids change. plugs and all, it will give you a better idea of what might be wrong with the car.

Welcome osduck5 and that's a great story. I'm sure you and your son will have lots of fun working on the car together.

Not many ways better to bond with a young son... Welcome to the forums and good luck with your father/son project.
