You're going to need another V8 model to perform the swap. It costs a lot of money and a is a lot of work. When its all said and done, your V6 model will basically be a Z28 inside a base model Camaro body. Everything will have to be switched out. The motor, tranny, rear end, guages, PCM, motor mounts, everything basically. This is not a very cost effective way to have a more powerful Camaro.

The cost in Orlando for v8 camaros for 1997 is roughly 7-10 grand .. Huge jump from the 2000 for a v6.. I figured it would have been less expensive but it seems like ALOT of work.. I just want a fast Camaro ..200hp on a big body does not seem fast

These cars weigh in at around 3500 lbs, they're not too heavy.

Buff is right. Engine swap in a Gen III or IV? Might as well just buy a V8 car with a bad motor, be cheaper in the long run. Major electronics and hardware differences.

Well, even with all of that, the V8 will still be faster. I believe that if you want a fast Camaro, skip the V6 model and get a V8. The V6 makes a good commuter car, but I personally wouldn't pour all of that money into it to make it faster.
