Default New member looking into getting a Camaro

Hey everyone. I'm Metsubo. BUT ON THE STREET THEY CALL ME K-MONAYYYY!! Just kidding. Anyway, like I said in the subject, I'm looking into buying a used 94 Camaro(Not a z28 ) manual transmission, with automatic everything, with some body damage, needing a new battery and a new tire, and it has some disconnected hoses under the hood and lots of loose(not unattached) wires. I was wondering if a 94 Camaro would be worth putting in the time and money to fix up. My current car is a P.O.S. 94 Cavalier, and I'm sick of it's 0-60 in 17 seconds bullcrap. It drives fine, but it's got a lot of problems, and I was thinking about getting a car that was in so-so condition, and spending my money on fixing it up, 1: so I can learn more about the car, and 2: so it's something to do.

Would this be a worthwhile car choice once I clean it up and make it almost as good as new, or should I just hold out and get an MR2 or somesuch?

And that was a horrible intro on my part, but since this is the New Members area, I figured it'd be the best place to say it, seeing as I am a new member and all.

I guess I'll do a better intro right now. I'm Kevin. I'm 19. I work at a coffee shop. I drive an Aqua 94 Automatic Cavalier(non RS). I live in Addison Texas. ... And that's about all there is to me right now.

welcome!

a camaro would be a great choice to restore, as long as your willing to put countless hours into fixing her up and making her run again

I guess it all depends on how much you can get the car for. IMO in the condidtion you stated I would not give more than $800-1000 for a rough condition V6 Camaro. How much are you looking to spend?Keep us updated and welcom to the board

NJ, I am more than willing to put time and money into this car if it's at all worth it. If not just for the learning experience.

JD, Yeah, I'd be spending about a grand on it. That's good to know that it's an okay price/expected price.

I'm willing to spend as much money as it takes in order to make it a car to be proud of... As much money a Barista at Starbucks can make that is. Then again, I am going to give this car a long as time period in order for it at least to be running and reliable, at least, and even longer to get it brag-worthy.

I will probably be spending a looooong time here, if I go through with this purchase. When I have the grand to drop for the car, I'll be sure to take pictures and let you guys know allll about it.

Welcome to the forums! How far is Addison from lets say, Dallas? If I remember right its somewhat nearby. I'm always up around that area at my mom's. Not for the next month though, as I'm pretty busy at work.

Addison is like a 20 minute drive from Dallas...if that. It's north dallas' neighbor. It's very very close. I go to Dallas all the time.

Quick Q on a v6 Camaro: How quick does a stock, on average, go from 0-60?

If I had to guess on the 0-60 time, I would say 6-7 seconds. It may be a little more.

The 0-60 on a 94 V6 will be considerably more than 7 sec. The 94 had the 3.4l v6, pushing 160hp.
The 96-02 (and some 95's) had the 3.8l with 200hp. The 0-60 on the 3.8 new is supposed to be lower 7's im pretty sure.. So factor in the miles and everything on a 3.8 and it probably won't be getting in the 7's depending on its condition. So the 3.4 i would say anywhere around 9, probably more/maybe less depending on its condition.
