Default New member 67 Camaro RS

Hello everyone new member just bought a 67 Camaro RS project car for my wife's Christmas present. Probably a big mistake should have bought a car done instead but I couldn't resist. It was brought up from Florida in 1975 to Michigan. The engine was pulled out and it was going to be made into a race car. The guy I bought it from talked them into selling it to him in 76. He then put it in a barn and never got aroumd to putting it back together. After having a stroke he knew we would not be able to get to it. All original but has some dings and scrapes and a little rust. The floorboards are solid and so is the trunk but it needs interior all replaced the engine put back in and started. I have to go through all the wiring and replace all the brake lines fuel line ect. Then get to bodywork and paint. Hopefully I will be money ahead and not money behind by the time it is done. Nantucket blue with blue interior white pinstripes standard interior AC car RS 327 275 horsepower with a Powerglide. I hope to get lots of information and help here on this forum. We owned a 67 Camaro when we first got married in the early 90s. And my wife has always wanted another one after I got rid of that one. Live and learn.

Here some pics in my works shop where I am storing it for winter. Pic of it on trailer with motor and trans in front of trailer. I figured I should start a build thread soon. I will have lots of work to do and lots of ?s along the way. I want to keep it numbers matching with same exterior and interior color. My wife wants to get blue with the white striping for the seats (deluxe). She also wants a cowl induction hood and spoiler (I have a spoiler), I know not originally offered in 67 but that's what she wants. I don't think it will take away from value, or will it? Also have a original SS hood he gave me. I am thinking of changing the drum brakes for aftermarket power disc brakes all the way around. I have original disc brakes he included, not on car. But I think aftermarket will be better and easier to install and work on, etc.

Have you decoded the cowl plate? Is it the original L30 327? Its a shame its not a 4 speed. It would have come with a Muncie and a 12 bolt rear.

I have. It is V8, RS, tinted windshield only, A.C., standard interior. Column shift but he included an original floor shifter and console he had acquired. Not many options. I do not see any way that the L30 motor with a powerglide is noted on a cowl tag only the L30/L20 option would be noted. Yes I agree it would of been awesome to have that option. I have not taken the numbers off the motor yet but it has the 4 barrel and a.c. brackets and from looking at original motor pics it looks like it is the original to me. I will run the motor numbers when I get a chance to get them. It is in my works shop and I live 45 minutes away and have been working another 1 and 15 minutes away from home, so I haven't been able to get in there. I have attached the tag if anyone else can tell me more. I also attached a pic of paper that I think is from the seat manufacturer that I found cleaning it out.

It is a nice shop. We just moved into it a year ago and it is huge compared o our last one. They let employees store stuff in the back area for free, atleast for now, can't beat that. I also have my son's 81 Z28 he bought a month ago in there for the winter. His is all original with 75,000 miles on it. Second paint job, last PO did alot of work to get it drivable as it sat for 20 years in a garage. We just have to fix the droopy headliner and get the A.C. going, plus he wants a newer radioand speakers. He ain't digging the 8 track. I was told I couldn't do much work on our 67 in there by the shop manager, but I have it pushed in the far back corner and I have a access card so I can come in on the weekend's when nobody is around. So till the owner says otherwise I hope to work on it a little here and there till spring when I can get it into my shop. I plan on having my shop insulated and heated before next winter. The wife wants to restore it mostly ourselves except for paint and maybe bodywork.

Reads good. Suggestion - you might start a logbook on the Camaro so you can keep track of any changes, parts bought, and album of its build as it will become invaluable later in life.
We don't remember a lot as we get older - I tell everybody its an "Over 40 Thing"

Log book is a good idea, only I am afraid of how much money I will have into it if I keep track of it, lol.
