Default New member - 1975 Camaro

Hey everyone. New member here.
I have a 1975 Camaro type LT. Car has been in the family since 2005.
The car is now in my hands and working to get it back on the road.
The transmission took a dump years ago and was pulled (not sure where it went.)
I'm ready to purchase a new one, but want to make sure I get what I need.
I know this was a 4 speed car. Had a hurst shifter (at least the ****).
VIN 1S87L5N540942
Can someone help identify what trans was in this car? Looking for a solid replacement and buying suggestions. Maybe even a 5 speed.
Here's some pics. Thanks in advance everyone!!

It would either have a Saginaw or a Muncie M-21 four speed. Stock, No five speeds were offered that year, Some could also installed a Super T-10 if the others broke,

Check your local trans or speed shops. Swap meets are coming up .The internet. And if you don`t know what you are looking for ,Ask a friend you trust and knows what they are doing. Good luck. PS I would putt a Super T-10 or a Muncie in it for a 4 speed. And stay away from Saginaws if you are going to have a healthy engine. They were originally for 4 ans 6 cylinders engines. And tend to break if you do so. This 1979 Z-28 RS is mine.

'75 was the last year for the Muncie and if it wasn't a Z28 it probably got a Saginaw. You can use either or a T-10 which is a good solid tranny. I'd avoid the Saginaw if you plan on building any power out of your engine. Here's some good info,if you go to buy from someone you want to know what you're looking at so some tool doesn't try to sell you a Saginaw claiming it's a T-10 or Muncie. Identify General Motors' Four-Speed Transmissions
