Default New here! Got myself a 1st gen

I bought a 1969 base model convertible a couple months ago. It was parked outside a garage that caught fire and burnt to the ground. The car has fire damage from the firewall forward. I have tried to buy the car years before it was damaged. The older lady that owned it would not sell it. After the fire she called me and was ready to sell. Not really how I wanted to buy it, but..

The car is super clean! 58,000 miles. The floors, trunk, rockers, are practically rust free. Anyway... I'm excited to get going on it, and love all the pictures and info available on this site.

Hey Scooch, I have read your thread, and check out your awesome pics. The fire stopped at the firewall. The plastic pieces in the dash got just hot enough to start to change shape. So they will need to be replaced. It got the edge of the top, just enough to have to replace it. I have the front of the car completely tore apart now.
