Talking New on the forum from Miami,FL

What's up everyone? Im new to the camaro forum and so far i must say im very pleased. Ive seen a lot of good information here for new incoming members who dont know much about the camaro besides the engine it comes with lol. I plan to be very active on this site as im always apart of the forum that my car pertains too. Ive been a member over at the ford forums, charger forums, and as well as the g37 forums. Anyways ive been looking at the new camaro for about a couple days now and i love it! havent test driven it yet but boy i cant wait! just a few noobie questions so i can go ahead and pick the right camaro for me. Im looking at an SS without a doubt my question is there really a significant difference bw the LS3 and the L99? as in 1/4 time, Hp, Torque, MPG? stuff like that.. I own right now a G37 manuel and have been driving it for the past 3 years and living down here in Miami where its crowded to the max it gets pretty annoying driving in 1st and 2nd gear all the time in traffic.. i wouldnt really mind getting another manuel but as of now im leaning towards the automatic unless they're is an extreme difference making the manuel just that much better than the auto.. Sorry for the long post as my member introduction but like i said before ill be very active on the site! Thanks guy and help would be appreciated..

welcome to the forums! as to the differnce between auto or stick the auto is another grand on the sticker price and for less horsepower. the ls3 is the same motor used the base vette and come with the stick. the l99 is used with the auto and is basically the same motor but has active fuel management, basicaly what this does is shuts fire to 4 of the cylinders basicaly to save gas. it also has variable valve timing. this adjusts the timing to differnt levers of the rpm band to help fuel economy and create a smoother idle.

Thank you camaroboy.. A fas as the active fuel management goes and the dod are those able to be removedor bypassed someway? as much as i would love to save some gas i would have a hard time driving around when its on 4 cylinders as i would think the power of the car significantly drops right? or am i wrong?

Also what's the package that comes on the car that gives the exhaust a very slick look rather than that plain jane look?

for the exaust there is the ground effects package that puts a lip kit to the bottom of the car and puts different exaust tips on it. the kit is factory but comes in a roungh dark grey color. ive seen guys have it painted at the dealer to match the car and it looks pretty good. i dont think you can bybass the active fuel managent. i honestly have no idea how it works. i would assume that when running on 4 cylinders there would be a huge power loss but i dont know when the motor decides to shut the 4 down. i think its when at highway speeds or at some constant speed like a hybrid.
