Default new commer 98 ss

im 17 and well about 2 weeks ago now i baught a black 98 camaro ss with the ls1 and t-tops
i baught it knowing its a fixer upper...already replaced the driver side window motor. not as much fun as i was hoping. It came with hooker headers, 3 inch borla exhaust, and a misfire. so it will be a fun project

Default misfire possible solution? i hope?

Alright so my dad owns a few napa auto parts stores and i was talking to one of his managers and he said since i got the new exhaust and it doesnt have any catalytic converters there wouldnt be enough back pressure in the exhaust system and thats why it is missfiring....does that sound accurate?

Is it misfiring or backfiring? When I have my exhaust cut-out open (bypassing 90% of the muffler), it backfires when I decelerate.

SOME back pressure is a good thing though.
