Default New to Chevy

Well I'm new to Chevy, And just bought my 1st Camaro today. It's going to be a long road and hopeflly will end with happy results. I'm new to this whole domestic thing. Been into the import scene since I was 16. Still am but thought I'd expand my horizon.

Well, my brother and I jus bought a Camaro today. I'm new to this and all I know is they are v8, hahaha. My cousinds husband knows how to rebuild and all about engines So he will be heplin us with this build. As he just purchased a 72 Vega today and plans on droppin a V8. So we will be spendin lots of time on these builds.

As far as the car goes it's a 305 V8 but the engine is jacked! It's got a broken rod thus a knockin noise. I dont think its a z28. On a side note can someone point me in the direct or tell me whats the diff with a Z28 and what not. Ohh yea its a 79, sorry i forgot to mention this before. The guy we bought it from said he bought it new, so i guess thats good that hes original owner. It currently has a 305, i think. And we plan on gettin a 350 and rebuiling the heads and get this bad boy runnin. We going to do this right! I don't have any pics right now but will hopefully get some tomorrow to show u guys. This car looks like crap for now but will hopefully look like a champ one day!! Thanks for all your help!

If you're going to be rebuilding a v8, I'd go with a 327. Less overall power, but a lot more acceletation.

And I don't think they had t-tops in the '79 model. I don't think the t-top era came out until around the early 3rd generation. But I'm probably wrong on that.

im pretty sure they didnt have a 305 z28 and im pretty sure the t-tops were available,i know the firebirds did...350 with a set of real good heads with a really good hydrolic cam(easy matinence)and some flat tops(10 to 1 with 64 cc heads)should put you in the 13s...id build a 400,but thats me..dont waste money on doing head work on a set of crappy heads, find some 64cc heads or better then port them out,or just buy some heads, and dont forget a good stall converter, unless its a 4 speed...pull your heads and measure the piston hole or run the block,it may have a 350...

Ah, so '79 did come with a t-tops option. Alright. I thought it was first introduced in the 3rd generation.
